AUV-NEXT

In 2022,AUV-NEXT was equipped with a small optical wireless communication device, and succeeded in collecting underwater images taken by the Ocean lander for benthic observation installed on the seabed while cruising.

Arctic Research Vessel

JAMSTEC started the construction of Japan's first Arctic research vessel with icebreaking capabilities in 2021. This vessel will have the capability to generate new research outcomes since it can operate in sea-ice-covered areas, thereby providing new sets of data.

DSDV Chikyu is the world's first scientific drilling vessel to introduce riser drilling technology for deeper drilling below the seafloor.
